Week #2 of Living for Jesus
Three Weeks of Personal Spiritual Formation to Become a Disciple of Christ

Day #1

Read: Matthew 5:1-16

Suggested Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your faithfulness to me.  You are always the same.  You never change.  You are holy and your name is holy.  I pray that I may take part in your righteousness.  Thank you that you’ve taken my sins away from me.  Thank you, Jesus, for dying for my sins.  Thank you for giving me a new start.

Lord, you have shown me the way to a blessed life.  Help me to be meek, and merciful, and pure.  Help me to be a peacemaker.  I want your righteousness.  May I live so that others see your light.  May I be a positive influence in the world.  Help me to help others to know you.

I pray for my family…I pray for my friends…I pray for my new church family…I pray for those who may not understand your ways.  Live in me so that my light will shine.

I thank you for all of your blessings.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day #2

Suggested Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you that because of Jesus and His death and resurrection I have forgiveness of sins.  Thank you for speaking to me personally and showing me my need of you and your salvation.  Give me grace today to live by faith.  I trust in you to help me in my words, thoughts, and deeds to be righteous.  Help me to follow your holiness.

Lord Jesus as you came and showed the disciples that you are the Son of God, reveal yourself more and more to me.  I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

I thank you that you came to earth.  I thank you that I can trust you to live in me.  You are the light of the world.  Be my light today.

Thank you that I have been reborn from above and am part of your family.  Bless my friends and family with your grace.  Make my life a witness to others that you are real, and that you really change lives.

I love you Lord.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Day #3

Read: John 1:15-34

Suggested Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I worship and praise you for who you are—the Son of God and the Savior of the world.  Because you are holy and powerful, you are my help and my protector.  You are my strength.  You are my source of grace and you are the truth.  I belong to you.  I trust you to lead me today in righteous paths.

Jesus, Lamb of God, thank you for taking away the sin of the world.  Thank you for taking away my sin.  Thank you for the cross.  Thank you that you gave your life for me, and that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from all sin.  Thank you that because you rose again from the dead, I am born anew and can live a new life.  Guide me today.  Keep me from sin.  Help me to endure temptations.  Remind me to trust you even when things are difficult.  Don’t let me forget you when things are going well.

I pray for my needs today, that you will supply them.  I pray for the people I meet that they will see Jesus in me.  Bless my family and friends, and use me to bless others.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Day #4

Read: 2 Timothy 3:1-17

Suggested Prayer:

Lord Jesus, you are the Word that was in the beginning with God and that was God.  You have inspired the Bible so that we can read it and know what is true and what to believe.  Thank you for the word.  Help me as I read it to understand it and to apply it.  Thank you for those who have helped me come to faith, who have explained God’s word to me.  Bless them for their faithful service.

Heavenly Father, I need you to help me understand your word.  I depend on your Holy Spirit be my teacher.  Help me learn the doctrines the Bible teaches, submit to its reproofs, adjust to its corrections, and follow its instructions.  Open my eyes so that I may see the wonderful things in your word, and grant me wisdom to apply them.

Lead me today in righteous paths.  I pray, also, that your Holy Spirit will be using me to help others come to know you.  Bless my family, my co-workers, and my friends.  I pray for those who seem to make my life difficult.  Help me to be a blessing today.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Memorize: Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Day #5

Read: John 20:1-18

Suggested Prayer:

Lord Jesus, without you I would not have hope of eternal life.  I would be like Mary at the tomb, weeping for sorrow.  Without you, my life is filled with sin, emptiness, and loneliness.  Thank you that you are the comforting savior.  As you comforted Mary by your presence, comfort me.  I need you each moment.  You are my life and my hope.  Thank you for your promise to never leave me or forsake me.

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son to die for me.  Thank you that you raised him from the dead, and that I serve a savior that is alive.  Thank you for grace that gives me the desire to serve you, and also gives me power to serve you.  Fill me today with your Holy Spirit.  Fill me with the Spirit of Christ.  Help me in my thoughts, words, and deeds to live the life that comes from Christ in me.  Make me alive today by your presence and your power.  And make me a blessing to others around me.  Let them be drawn to the Lord Jesus through my life.  Don’t let me in any way detract from your message of salvation.  Use me as your instrument today.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Memorize: Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Day #6

Read: 1 Corinthians 15:12-22

Suggested Prayer:

Lord Jesus, light of the world, life of the world, be my light and life today.  Because you died for my sins, I am forgiven.  Because you rose from the dead on the third day, I am alive to God.  I have life because of your resurrection.  I have hope because you are alive.  I have the great promises of eternal life because of your resurrection life.  I have the reality of freedom from my sins because of your death and resurrection.  Thank you for forgiving me, making me alive, and giving me the hope of heaven.

Lord Jesus, because of your light I have a new understanding of truth.  You are helping me see the world as you see it.  It is for only a fleeting moment that we are here.  Help me to keep in mind that what matters is those things that will last for eternity.  I pray that you will be my light and my life here on earth so that I will be prepared for the eternal home where they need no sun because you are the light, and where there will be no death, but life for evermore.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Lord Jesus, you are my way to life and truth.  You have given your life for me.  I give my life back to you.  You have made it possible for me to be forgiven of all my sins.  By your help I forgive all who have done wrong to me.  I need you in my life, as my light every day.

Holy Spirit, you are my comforter, my counselor, my guide.  You are helping me each day to understand more about living for Jesus.  You are showing me things that I need.  Thank you for coming into my heart and living in me.  Keep making me more and more like Jesus.  Make me a blessing.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
